History of one collection

In 1976-1977 before opening of a house museum of A.M.Gerasimova in Michurinsk I had to collect materials about a life and creativity of the artist for a museum exposition. Absolutely casually in Moscow I have got acquainted with Michael Matveevichem Zahvatkinym, the artist, the person of the big erudition, unusual kindness who with 1947 for 1952 worked as assistant A.M.Gerasimova in Academy of arts of the USSR and subsequently was its good friend.
M.M.Zahvatkina's stories about a life and A.M.Gerasimova's creativity, transfer to gift of variety of archival materials have helped to make an exposition of a house museum of Gerasimov of Academy of arts of the USSR. The museum has got A.M.Gerasimova's some products from M.M.Zahvatkina's collection. One of them - «the Workshop in Michurinsk», written by the artist in 1936, has helped to restore a memorial workshop.
Through M.M.Zahvatkina I have got acquainted with Olga Trifonovnoj Korobkovoj (on the husband O.T.Pajpe) at which the portrait of her mother, Olga Petrovny Korobkovoj was kept. Date of a writing of this portrait concerns 1912-1915. These years Alexander Mihajlovich ended picturesque and architectural branches of the Moscow school of painting, sculpturing and architecture, he was already known to the art public and the wide spectator as the endowed and original young artist. The portrait, possibly, was custom-made. In a family of Korobkovy it valued and as later recollected daughter Korobkovoj, Olga Trifonovna, the portrait of her mother was never given for exhibiting at exhibitions even to the author.

A.M.Gerasimov, being the student, has got acquainted with a family of Korobkovyh that was promoted most likely by writer Vladimir Alekseevich Giljarovsky. Head of the family Korobkovyh - Trifon Ivanovich Korobkov - was known enough representative in Moscow financially-exchange circles, the owner of own commercial office. He had in Zamoskvorechye, on street the Big Yakimanka, the solid two-storeyed private residence allocated with the architecture. In Moscow suburbs Korobkovu the extensive manor belonged. Subsequently A.M.Gerasimov has represented this manor on a cloth "Manor Korobkovo". Trifon Korobkov, being in the fashion and imitating known Moscow patrons of art - Tretjakovu, Mamontovu, was interested in art, did to young artists orders, thus, financially them supported.
In the summer, in a vacation, lived on Korobkovsky manor and the young painters A.Gerasimov and N.Terpsihorov, subsequently the known Soviet landscape writer worked over etudes. Here one more work «the Wood footpath» has been written.
All three works - «the Portrait Korobkovoj», "Manor Korobkovo" «Wood footpath» - were at relatives of Korobkovy and were not exhibited anywhere. Now they are in a memorial estate A.M.Gerasimova exposition where they can be seen.
In the house of Korobkovy of A.M.Gerasimov has met the adherents on art. Son Korobkovyh, Sergey Trifonovich, was engaged in painting. The daughter, Olga Trifonovna Korobkova-Pajpe, took a great interest in theatre. Subsequently it has arrived in studio of theatre Vahtangova and has been enlisted in troupe.
Young Sergey Korobkov studied in painting in private art studio, took part in exhibitions. He was the participant of art association «Free creativity» in whom consisted a member and exposed A.M.Gerasimov's pictures.
