Artists of a revolutionary theme

I could be present at conversation of our fellow countryman, the first president of Academy of arts of the USSR, the national artist of the USSR Alexander Mihajlovicha Gerasimov with the outstanding Mexican artist-realist, the winner of the international Lenin award David Alfaro Sikejrosom. Gerasimov has told about work on a picture about Lenin, that the image of the leader of its revolution excites tens years, has shown to the visitor colour reproductions of the Lenin pictures, since well-known «Lenin's Performances before the Red Army men leaving on front, on the Theatre square at Small theatre in 1918». Gerasimov has recollected, how he in 1917-1918 on the native land, in the city of Kozlove (nowadays Michurinsk), wrote to a panel for an ornament of buildings in days of revolutionary holidays, scenery for local theatre, made out the mass dramatized actions and representations on the area. Alexander Mihajlovich showed portraits, landscapes of native Tambovshchiny. Then he has taken from a folder the big photo from the picture «Group portrait of commanders of the First Cavalry», written in the thirties. Сикейрос has looked attentively and, having specified in one of characters, has learnt and has exclaimed: «Budyonny! It know all over the world».
Сикейрос has told about the participation in the Mexican revolution of the beginning of the century when he was at war the captain of insurgent army, then in 30th years ordered an international brigade, battling to enemies of the Spanish republic against fascists of the general Ex, then with reaction in the country. Having shown an album with reproductions of the painting, monumental frescos «New democracy» — the symbolical image of the socialist countries which have dumped oppression of capitalism, «Colonization of Mexico», «demonstration Dispersal». « destruction of the worker on capitalist manufacture», «Struggle of mankind against illnesses», «Execution by colonialists of Guautemoka — the leader of the ancient people», he has told that highly appreciates the Soviet art which saw on All-Union art and other exhibitions. In the end of conversation of Sikejros has exclaimed in Russian: «Yes workers and peasants are well!» And through the translator has informed that to some phrases has in Russian learnt in pre-war arrival to the USSR in 1932 as the chairman of trade union Mexican metallists.
